The State of Kullu was ruled during the medieviel period by Rajput Rajas. The fertile Palampur valley is a popular tourist attraction, as is the nearby Taragarh Palace, now a hotel, run by the royal family of Jammu and Kashmir.
Formerly known as Alhilal or land of the crescent moon, the property, built in the early 1930's, was bought by the royal family of Jammu and Kashmir and served as the residence of Rajmata Taradevi, mother of Dr. Karan Singh, until it's conversion into a hotel. |
