Jammu & Kashmir is paradise for mountaineers, the most famous peaks of India are located in this region. Among them are Pir Panjal, Great Himalayas, Zanskar, Ladakh, Karakoram. An expedition can take a month on these peaks. The areas off Sonamarg are the lesser peaks Kolahoi (5,425 mt) and Harmukh (5,148 mt). On these peaks one can get to quickly making an alpine ascent. Similarly the peaks in the Kishtwar region are not too high but offer technically dicfficult climbing with many challenging faces and ridges. The popular peaks are Sickle Moon 6,575 mt , Riger 6,001mt, Brammah-I 6,416mt, Crooked Finger 5,630mt, Arjuna 6,230mt, Katori 6,138mt and Flat Top 6,100mt.
