Built by Maharaja Jai Singh II, Bada Bagh lies approximately 5 kms north of Jaisalmer. The major source of fruit and vegetable supply of the city, it is a fertile oasis on the banks of an artificial lake.
It has several royal cenotaphs (chhatris), with beautifully carved ceilings and statues of past rulers along with their consorts, surrounded by thick trees. It is a major tourist attraction and is popularly referred to as the sunset point because of it's beautiful views of the rising and setting sun. |
