Brijraj Bhawan Palace, overlooking the Chambal river, is the seat of the current Maharao of Kota; Brijaj Singh and his family. In 1964, he converted one his palace into a heritage hotel and resides in the other half. All rooms of the palace gives paranomic views of the river and the surrounding lush gardens.
There are several varities of birds in the gardens of the palace; which makes it an ornithologist’s paradise. The best feature of the hotel is the personalised and family feel. The rooms are large and comfortable and the food delicious. All arangement are personally seen to by the royal family. Special tour of the region can be arranged at request.
The palace was built in 1830 A.D and became the state guest house of Kota in 1900 A.D. Many V.VIP's from viceroys, kings and queens to maharaja's and Prime Ministers have stayed here. Lord Curzon visited in 1903. Queen Mary of England stayed here on her visit to 1911. Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi visited in 1971.
The palace is situated within easy reach of the railway station, the airport and the bus stand. |
