The Little Andamans island has been designated as a reserve for the Onge tribe. However, the tribe has been confined to the south of the island, an area out of bounds for visitors. In fact, one has to register one's arrival on this island.

The rest of Little Andamans is being developed to be tourist friendly. The waves hitting the shore of the island make it a good place for swimming but bad for snorkelling. The main beach of Little Andamans is at Butler Bay, which is also a camping ground.
