Macherla, near Guntur, is close to the famous Nagarjunasagar dam on the river Krishna, adjoining the Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam sanctuary, the largest of India’s tiger reserves.
The famous Ethipothala Falls and Yeleshwaram, an archaeological site where Buddhist relics were found, are also close by.
