Mantralayam is in the Kurnool district situated on the southern bank of the river Tungabhadra. It is also well connected by road from Hyderabad, Kurnool and other important centres.

It is famous for Raghavendraswami Matt or Brindavan. It is here that Raghavendraswami, a great follower of Madhvacharya, entered samadhi after preaching the Madhva cult or Dvaita philosophy. There is no idol of Raghavendraswami but his Brindavan (samadhi) is worshipped.
