Pakhal sanctuary situated in the Warangal district has an area of about 860 sq.kms.It has dry deciduous mixed type of forests with bamboo & mixed teak forests.

The wild life found here are the spotted deer, sambar, nilgai, wild boar, gaur, python, wild dogs, foxes, jackals, hyena, sloth bear, panther, tiger & ducks, teals, cormorant, spoon bills & storks.

The nearest railhead is at Warangal & is 130 km. by road from Hyderabad. The sanctuary is well connected by state buses.The best months to visit are from Nov-Jun.
