Tezpur, lying on the north bank of the Brahmaputra river, is the centre of the Indian tea industry. About 5 km west of Tezpur lie the ruins of the stone temples called the 'Da Parbatia''. Other architectural remains include that of Agnigarh, Bamuni Hills, Bhairavi and Mahabhairab temples and the twin tanks of Bar Pukhuri and Padum Pukhuri.
