Nizamuddin Tomb is dedicated to the memory of Sufi saint Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya. Ever since his death in 1325 the area, as per some settlement, has remained inhabited.

Amir Khusrau a poet and the saint's beloved disciple is also buried here. This locality, known as the Nizamuddin Basti, is dotted with several monuments, most of which have been encroached upon.
