Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the President of India, is situated right round the corner of the Parliament building. Designed by Lutyens, it was the official residence of the Viceroy when the British ruled India. 340 rooms in an area of about 330 acres, with pillars and porticos in addition to the Durbar Hall and the Ashoka Hall it is indeed an imposing structure.
Although special permission has to be obtained to visit the complex, the Mughal Gardens within the complex are spread in 130 hectears. This garden has the most beautiful and well kept flowers in the city. It is open to the public only in the month of February and early March. |
