The Chaurshi Temple, at Bharmour, is located at a distance of 65 km from Chamba. The main temples are dedicated to Lakshmi Devi, Ganesh, Manimahesh and Nar Sing, and gets it's name as the Chaurshi temples. The temple dates back to the 9th century and is one of the most important Hindu temples in India.
The name of the temple was kept after the Chaurshi yogi who once visited Bharmour under the rule of King Sahil Verma. The yogi was pleased with the king and blessed him with 10 sons and a daughter.The king then built the temple with the yogi's name. |
