Dhankia Mahadeva temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is in Nirmand, near Kullu.

According to the legend, a Brahamana had a goat which gave him huge quantity of milk daily. Once the goat dissappeared beyond the mountains overlooking the Sutlej river and was not traceable despite all efforts. Lord Shiva then appeared in the Brahamana's dream and told him that his goat had been bathing him with it's milk in a cave and was told by Lord Shiva to visit the cave and find his lost goat. The Brahmana not only found his lost goat but aslo found a lingam there. Thereafter he dedicated his life to Lord Shiva and spent the rest of his life there with the goat.
