 Keylong is the capital of Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh, lying on the Indo-Tibetian Border.

  Shashur Gompa (Lahaul Valley)
 Shashur Gompa, dedicated to Zanskari lama, is 3 km from Keylong. This gompa, of Gelukpa order, was built in the 16th century. The 5 mt thangka is famous in the region. The annual festival, held every June or July, is renowned for the mask dances performed by the lamas.

  Khardong Gompa (Lahaul Valley)
 This 900 year old gompa at Khardong lies directly across the Bhaga valley from Keylong. The Drukpa Kagyud monastery, with about 30 lamas and chomos (nuns), is the largest in the area.
