This 543 sq km park spreads along the river Ken, 32 km from Khajuraho. The forest today harbour many species of wildlife including leopards, spotted deer, langur, monkey, wolf and gharial. Herds of bluebull chinkara and sambar are also common in sight. There are about 22 tigers in the park. Situated in a large, dense forest belt forming the northern fringe of the natural teak forest, the park provides an ideal habitat for the tigers.

Alternating valleys and plateaus, grassy maidans, steep gorges and escarpments, down which the waterfalls cascade, present a breathtaking panoramis view. A gharial (crocodile) sanctuary along the river Ken near the spectacular Raneh falls is an added attraction for the tourists. The river attracts a number of avian species. On the road to Panna are the spectacular Pandav falls.

Transport within the park is in petrol-driven 'gypsys' only. The cooler months are the best time to visit the park, it remains closed during the months of Jun-Oct.
