  Mahakaleshwar Mandir (Ujjain)
 The most important temple in Ujjain, the Mahakaleshwar Mandir is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple enshrines one of India's 12 jyothirlingam. Above the tank near ornate statue of Ganesh, is the Bade Ganeshji Ka Mandir a popular pilgrimage spot.

  Harsiddhi Mandir (Ujjain)
 Built during the Maratha period, this temple enshrines a famous image of the Goddess Annapurna. The two large pillars adorned with lamps were a special feature of Maratha art and are spectacular when lit at Navratri.

  Gopal Mandir (Ujjain)
 The marble-spired Gopal Mandir was built by the queen of maharaja Daulat Rao Scindia in the 19th century and is a great example of Maratha architecture. The silver-plated doors of the sanctum have quite a history.

  Chintaman Ganesh Mandir (Ujjain)
 On the opposite bank of the Shipra river, this temple is believed to be of considerable antiquity. The artistically carved pillars of the assembly hall date back to the Parmara period.

  Kaliadeh Palace (Ujjain)
 This is the water palace of Mandu sultans, constructed in 1458, on the island in the Shipra river. River water is diverted over stone screens in the palace, and the bridge to the island uses carvings from the sun temple that once stood here.
