Alibag is located, on the mainland, towards the south of Kihim. It is now a weekend resort for the privilaged. It can be reached by ferry from the Gateway of India. Fresh air, solitude and quite strolls along the seashore are it's major attractions; compared to the stress and fast life of the metropolis like Mumbai. There are beaches at Mandwa, Kihim near Alibag and at Nagaon.

Alibagh, once the head-quarters of the Maratha navel fleet, has 2 forts; the Colaba fort and the Diamond fort. It is also used as the transport hub for buses to Chaul.
