The nation's great dream factory was built in 1978, on a 140 hectares of rural scrubland in Goregaon east, 30 kms north of Mumbai. Financed to the tune of Rs 30 million by the Maharashtra state government, it was a state of art film studio in the old Hollywood mould. A place where film makers could isolate themselves from reality and turn 'script into screen' on one of the studio's 15 great shooting stages. Apart from the insight into film production, ace costumes and stage sets, there is a surreal experience of characters from seperate movies interacting in between shoots. |
