Balasore, once a maritime town inhabited by the French, is now the district head-quarter town. It is part of a fertile belt called the Granary of Orissa, because of it's vast streches of paddy fields and green landscape of this coastal township.

The area has flower-filled meadows in numerous colours. It is an excellent base for trips to some of the most enthralling scenic destination in the state.
