Sirhind was a significant city during the Mughal period. It has a number of fine mosques and tombs. The Fatehgarh Sahib Gurudwara within the Sirhind Fort marks the spot where the two young sons of the tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh were bricked alive because they refused to embrace Islam. Close by is the Rauza of Hazrat Mujadadud-din Altaf Sheikh Ahmed Farooqu, regarded by many Muslims to be second only to the Prophet Mohammed. |
