Madhogarh is a typical Rajasthani village with the exhilarating sight of potters, carpenters and cobblers plying their trade in the age-old ways. The carpets made here are exported to different countries. Located 42 kms from Jaipur, on the Jaipur-Agra highway no. 11, it is also the sight of the Madhogarh Fort. A Gift from the Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh of Jaipur, the present owners converted it into a heritage hotel in July 2000. The fort is set on an on an elephant back shaped hill. The battle between the Rajputs and the Marathas was fought, on the plains of Tunga, just about a km from Madhogarh on July 28, 1787. |
