Merta has the famous temple of Charbhuja that is located in the centre of the town and is visited by devotees throughout the year. The saint poetess Meera Bai was also associated with this temple. Another famous shrine is the mosque erected by emperor Aurangzeb on the ruins of Lord Shiva temple. A lake, named after the founder Rao Duda, called Dudasagar, still survives.
