Rohet Garh, the fortified desert home of the descendants of the 16th century Rathore of the Champawat clan, Thakur Dalpat Singh I,
today offers the famed warmth of courteous Rajput hospitality.
The 'Jagir' (fieldom) of Rohet was bestowed upon the chief as a mark of
appreciation for his bravery in battle and he built his fortified home or 'Garh' here - hence the name Rohet Garh. Generations of valiant
noblemen have built up on the original home where, notwithstanding the inroads of modernity, aristocratic values are respected. The
fort is now a heritage hotel housing an oasis of landscaped gardens within its time weathered walls where brilliantly plumed peacocks
strut about, perching themselves under finely carved stone archways. |
