Along the road to Agra, through a narrow gorge in the south-eastern corner of the walled city, several landscaped gardens were constructed by the kings and important courtiers in the 18 th and 19 th centuries. The largest and the most famous amongst these is a garden built by Sawai Jai Singh II for his Sisodia queen - the Sisodia Rani-ka-Bagh.
It consists of tiered multilevel gardens with fountains, watercourses and painted pavilions. |
