  Perur Temple (Coimbatore)
 This temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, was built by Karikala Cholan and is situated near river Noyyal. The exquisite sculptures in the hall, Kanagasabi, is very impressive. Pilgrims from all over visit this spot to pay homage to their ancestors. It is believed that the mortal remains of the dead turn into white stones after about 144 days.

 It came into existence in 1971 but the nucleus was an Agricultural Demonstration Farm started in 1868 later shifted to Coimbatore and became one of the internationally reputed Agricultural Colleges. This has been converted into the present Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.
