Coonnor is 19 km from the hill resort of Ooty, is a place of verdant beauty. Coonoor is the second largest hill station in Nilgiris, at an altitude of 1839 mt. Its climate is milder than Ooty. Surrounded by hills and their coffee plantations, Coonnor is a peaceful town perfect for relaxation.

In the heart of Coonoor is , Sims Park. It is a park cum botanical garden.

Another place to visit is the Pomological Station which is the fruit research station maintained by the State Agricultural Department.

Law's Falls also is a great attraction in Coonoor.

Pasteur Institute famous for research on Rabies and giving effective treatment to persons bitten by rabid animals. It also manufactures Polio vaccine.

Lamb's Rock is another place worth a visit, one can have a breathtaking view of the Coimbatore planes from Lamb's Rock, 8 Km from Coonoor on the way to Dolphin's Nose.  
Lady Caninng's Seat is a small house that commands panoramic view of the tea estates and the plains marks Lady Caninng's Seat, 9 km from Coonoor.

Kattery falls are one of the highest falls in the Nilgiris situated about 5 km from Coonoor on the Kendala road. The first ever-Hydro power plant to harness the fall to generate electricity for Cordite factory was built here.
