Erode, is located East of Coimbatore and is situated on the bank of river Cauvery. Black loam is found in parts of Erode Taluk. Lime stone is found in abundance in the form of modules, streaks and massive beds of grey and white colours interbanded with ignosis rocks. Felspar of the five quality is also abundant.

At a distance of 12 km from Erode is the Bhavani Sangameshwarar Temple; Bannari Amman Temple 75 km away from Erode; Sivanmalai Temple is 50 km; Thindalmalai Temple is 5 km from Erode etc. Other than these there are dams and a birds sanctuary in Vellode, 15 km from Erode.
