Mayiladuthurai also known as Mayuram is a small town, situated on the banks of Cauvery.

It is an important town as it is the headquaters of an Educational district and is one of the 40 parlimentary constituencies in TamilNadu.

Mayiladuthurai has a few famous temples like : Sri Mayuranathaswami temple also known as 'The Big Temple', Sri Ayyarappar temple, Sri Vadhanyeshwarar temple, Sri Punukeeswarar temple, Sri Parimala Ranganatha swamy temple and Sri Kasi Vishwanatha swamy temple.
