Udaipur known as the city of lakes was the ancient Hindu Capital. The Jagannath statue brought from Puri in the 16th century once stood in the Jagannath Temple, at the banks of Jagannath Dighti Tank, the centre of Udaipur. The most famous temple of Udaipur, the Tripura Sundari Temple, is dedicated to Goddess Kali. It is built in the exquisite Bengali-hut style and is also known as Matambari. Big fairs are held here during Diwali. |
