Also known as Chingay, the Penang street festival is a part of the many public and parade celebrations of Malaysia. August 31 is celebrated as the National Day, this occasion is also known as Merdeka. This celebration takes place at Kuala Lumpur. Other major event in Kuala Lumpur, "Colors of Malaysia" is a celebration of the cultural practices and the heritage of the 13 states of Malaysia. Held in September, the celebration includes cultural displays and traditional dances. Several hotels and complexes participate in the celebrations.
