Traditionally bound,
Malaysia is at it's best during festivities. Inhabitied by people
from different customs and races, all important festivals of each
community are celebrated with equal enthusiam in Malaysia. The anticipation
of the occasion is the best part of the celebrations.
The preparations begin much in advance.
Those living in the city prepare to move to their respective home
towns for the occasion. Special arrangements, including cleaning;
decorating houses; shopping for new clothes; preparing festival
goodies and special foods, are made to highlight the event.
Acurately described as the land of
festivals and celebrations, Malaysia has a host of special occasions
apart from the several religious celebrations. Also known as Chingay,
the Penang street festival is a part of the many public and parade
celebrations of Malaysia. August 31 is celebrated as the National
Day, this occasion is also known as Merdeka. This celebration takes
place at Kuala Lumpur. Other major event in Kuala Lumpur, "Colors
of Malaysia" is a celebration of the cultural practices and
the heritage of the 13 states of Malaysia. Held in September, the
celebration includes cultural displays and traditional dances. Several
hotels and complexes participate in the celebrations.
