South
Africa has diverse cultures. It has a dynamic fusion
of African, European and Asian influences, South
Africa is a hotbed of originality and creativity.
Evidence of this can be seen in there music, which
ranges from indigenous township rave music, known
as kwaito, to world-renowned African jazz by such
legendary talents as Hugh Masekela and Miriam Makeba.
Theatre to is an important part of the culture,
ranging from the classics to drama, dance and comedy.
A range of galleries, shops, studios and street
side stalls exhibit traditional African art as well
as contemporary fine art.

Public
holidays are celebrated as following:
16 December, the Day of the Vow, which celebrated
the massacre of Zulus, has become the Day
of Reconciliation.
The
widely observed Soweto Day, marking the
student uprisings that eventually led to
liberation, is now celebrated as Youth Day
on the 16 June.
Human
Rights Day is held on the anniversary of
the Sharpeville massacre that is on the
21 March.
The Festival of the Arts is celebrated in
July.
The big Arts Alive Festival is held in Johannesburg
in September and October. There are
also a lot of workshops exposing.
The most famous Pretoria Show is held during
the third week of August.
